Learning Outside The Classroom

Learning outside the classroom (L.O.T.C.) is the use of places other than the classroom for teaching and learning.  It is about getting children out and about, providing them with challenging, exciting and different experiences to help them learn.  By giving the children the opportunity to get outside and experience nature, they bring learning to life.  With this in mind, 2nd and 3rd class took the classroom to the wooded area beside the school in early June. Subjects covered during the busy day included maths, history, P.E., art, S.P.H.E. and English. The weather was favourable and everyone enjoyed the day. Thanks to Tony Bannon for giving us access to the wooded area, and to Martin Dolan for supplying us with slates and chalk to help us recreate life in a hedge school! Check out our video of the day in Our Classroom News
